With South Africa's top three away on African duty, it was time for some of the PSL's newcomers to shine.
Milford edge Arrows to extend unbeaten run
Milford extended their unbeaten run in the Betway Premiership to four matches with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Golden Arrows in Saturday's KZN derby at Princess Magogo Stadium, a result that lifted them to fourth on the table.
The sides struggled to create clear chances in a closely-contested opening period, although Milford gradually grew into the contest.
Milford eventually made their pressure count in the 71st minute when Siphosethu Ndlabi finished calmly with a right-footed shot into the bottom corner after some neat interplay opened up the Arrows defence.
The visitors looked to extend their advantage in the closing stages, with Sicelo Masilela and Sifiso Mdluli creating further opportunities, but had to settle for a narrow victory.
Kruger stun Chippa with last-gasp winner
Kruger United claimed their second Betway Premiership win of the season with a dramatic 1-0 victory over Chippa United at Buffalo City Stadium.
The match looked set to end goalless after both sides missed opportunities, with Chippa coming closest in the first half through Goodman Mosele and Justice Figuareido. Kruger also threatened before the break, but Celimpilo Ngema fired narrowly wide from inside the penalty area.
Chippa struggled to create clear chances after the restart, while Kruger missed further opportunities through Sipho Sibiya and Ngema. The hosts nearly snatched a late winner when Figuareido broke into the box, but his effort was straight at goalkeeper Marcel Dandjinou.
Kruger made the most of that reprieve when Sibiya controlled a cross from the right and fired into the bottom corner in stoppage time to secure all three points.
Sekhukhune snatch late winner to sink Gallants
Sekhukhune United scored a stoppage-time winner to secure a 2-1 victory over Marumo Gallants in their Betway Premiership clash in Polokwane, moving up to sixth place in the standings.
Sekhukhune broke the deadlock in the 30th minute through Oageng Phiri, whose first goal for the club gave the home side a 1-0 half-time lead after a composed finish. Gallants showed more purpose after the break but struggled to create clear chances.
The visitors were handed a lifeline in the 78th minute when Sekhukhune goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi spilled a cross into his own net to level the scores. However, Sekhukhune responded late on, with Bethuel Muzeu heading home a cross from Kazeem in the 92nd minute to snatch all three points.
The result lifts Sekhukhune to sixth on the table, while Gallants remain rooted to the bottom after another disappointing defeat.
