Lehlohonolo Majoro adamant Chiefs’ form will force tighter Soweto Derby

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates striker Lehlohonolo Majoro believes Amakhosi will be driven by a desire for revenge when they face their rivals in this weekend’s Soweto Derby.

The Buccaneers ran riot in the previous meeting two months ago, claiming a 3-0 win and full bragging rights in front of a packed FNB Stadium.

But ahead of their second Betway Premiership clash of the campaign, Majoro expects a far tighter contest – especially with Chiefs currently on a six-game unbeaten run.

"No, I believe it's going to be an interesting one, not only because of the points but what happened in the previous Derby where Pirates dominated from the beginning of the game until the end. Having been beaten 3-0 in a Soweto Derby doesn't go down well with them."

"Having turned the corner by constantly winning with the introduction of Duba coming back into the starting line-up, showcasing that he belongs in the Kaizer Chiefs colours," said Majoro

Majoro also pointed out that Pirates have players who are peaking at the right time of the season, more so with a title on the line.

"With Pirates, each and every game they play now is like a cup final. In order for them to dethrown Mamelodi Sundowns at the top, they have to win at all costs. I think they would have learned from what happened at Richards Bay, where they were held to a draw, so they wouldn't want to repeat that; they wouldn't want to drop points."

"I think at Pirates everyone is in form. The front three, their attacking is fireworks; you can expect goals from either of them. It's a thing of who is going to score more on the day."

"Rele [Relebohile Mofokeng], is playing the game of his life, he is on top of his game. Appollis is also there pulling some strings, and Moremi came in and hit the ground running."

There remains a lot of questions over whether Chiefs current players are good enough to don the Amakhosi jersey. Majoro says they have to do the talking on the pitch.
