The relationship between the two parties is understood to have deteriorated over the weekend when Maduka was spotted sitting in the stands shortly before kick-off during Magesi’s Betway Premiership clash against Orlando Pirates.
Assistant coach Abraham Nteo temporarily took charge of the team with the official team sheet naming him “head coach”.
Maduka’s tenure has come under intense scrutiny following a poor run of results after just two wins in 15 league fixtures, leaving the Limpopo outfit rooted to the bottom of the standings and firmly in relegation danger.
Sources have indicated that the club hierarchy is scrambling for solutions with several key fixtures still remaining, including their upcoming Nedbank Cup last-32 encounter away to second tier side Upington City.
It is understood that talks around a possible settlement and payout of the remainder of Maduka’s contract are at an advanced stage.
Maduka joined Magesi at the start of the current season after leaving Royal AM, who were expelled from the topflight early last year.
He was tasked with building on Magesi’s historic debut campaign, which included winning the Carling Knockout and securing survival under previous coaches Clinton Larsen and Owen Da Gama.
However, the club has built a reputation for making bold technical team decisions. Larsen was dismissed despite delivering silverware, while Da Gama successfully preserved the club’s topflight status before Maduka’s appointment.
It remains unclear who Magesi may target should they part ways with Maduka.
Nteo, who forms part of his technical team, is expected to take interim charge, although sources suggest internal relationships within the coaching staff have also become strained – a final decision on Maduka’s future is expected soon.
