Bafana finished runners-up behind Egypt, setting up a knockout meeting with the Indomitable Lions – the side that lifted the AFCON title under current South Africa coach Hugo Broos in 2017.
Mudau believes the team made good use of the recent break, using the time to assess their first three matches and fine-tune areas that need improvement ahead of the high-stakes encounter.
"The level is too high - there's a difference between this AFCON and the previous one. For the previous one people didn't know about us, but now people know about us. It is quite difficult, but it is a matter of getting things right. Even the youngsters are showing that they want to play in this tournament. I think we are ready for the game against Cameroon," said Mudau.
The right back was asked about their approach against a team that has physicality as its characteristics.
"Obviously they are a big team. It is just like preparation for a normal match. We take every match seriously. We know that they are physical, but we have to show up, put up a fight and win the game - that is what we need as a group," added Mudau.
Mudau highlighted that one of the areas of concern during the AFCON has been the lack of clean sheets.
Given the stature of Cameroon on the continent, Mudau added they were relishing being involved in a fixture that has attracted a lot of foreign press in Morocco.
"I think everyone is excited to play against those big names. You just have to show up and display your talent. That is something I learnt when I was still young," he expressed.
