Kaze was speaking after his team’s 1-0 Betway Premiership win over Golden Arrows at FNB Stadium last night, to get 2026 off to a positive start following the AFCON break.
The Burundian - who first arrived in South Africa as assistant coach to Nasreddine Nabi - was appointed co-coach alongside Khalil Ben Youssef earlier this season, slammed media outlets who have suggested that he’s not qualified for the job.
"I don't feel that I'm not trusted, but I feel that I'm very supported within the team, by the management and the players. Sometimes I feel like it is the outside people who are trying to create things and there is a lack of respect when people talk about those two co-coaches - they don't even know the names. "We know what we are doing, we are qualified. I'm giving you until the end of the season, we will meet, and I'm pretty sure everyone will apologise."
While Kaze was careful to not make any major promises, he guaranteed that they will compete as best as possible from now until the end of the season. The win last night took them to third place on the log and just two points from Mamelodi Sundowns, and he says they have to stay with the leading pack to have any fighting chance.
The match at FNB Stadium had a confusing moment when midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu looked to be taken off, which audibly irked the Chiefs supporters.
While it looked like the technical team changed their minds because of that, Kaze explained what actually happened.
"Actually, it was an error on the paper because on the substitute paper, they wrote Maboe, but put the number of Ndlovu. That caused all of the confusion, but the intention was to take out Maboe."
While Amakhosi won through an Aiden McCarthy goal in the first half, Arrows coach Manqoba Mngqithi was completely incensed with what was a clear off-side and echoed the calls for VAR.
Kaze sang in unison, saying it will help the game in the country.
