Chiefs have not won a league match in four games, something Ngcobo is hoping that it can start to change in eThekwini, as they look to close the gap with the top three.
"The season is very long and you get different phases in the season, like if you check we started very well but then we went into a dip. So, I think as a professional team, professional players, we know how to handle those situations and now we are going to take the momentum from the past weekend to make sure that we get back to winning ways and collect more points," Ngcobo said.
This momentum statement is supported by one of the ever-present players in the Amakhosi starting line-up this season and also one of the most improved from last season, Sibongiseni Mthethwa.
He says winning this game is non-negotiable.
"People know that this is a very important game for us and we need maximum points so we can continue with the momentum we started the season with. We are ready and our coaches are ready, we are taking this game very seriously and aiming to perform like we did over the weekend,” Mthethwa said.
“Fitness wise everyone is fine, I don't think we have any fitness problems in camp. I've played in every game but I'm definitely not struggling with my fitness, the most important thing are the three points that we will be fighting for over the weekend. “We are focusing on our performances not Durban City, right now we are fighting for maximum points, we don't care who is ahead or behind us."
With the game almost sold out tonight, between two teams who are just separated by a point (City on 15 and Chiefs on 16), an electrifying atmosphere is awaited in this match.
"It's not easy but I think with the squad that we have, we have great players to compete with, so, I think it shouldn't be something difficult. We're going to manage it, like I said, we have enough players."
