Igor Tudor secures Juventus future with new deal

Igor Tudor secures Juventus future with new deal

Juventus have locked in head coach Igor Tudor with a fresh two-year contract, ensuring the Croatian remains at the helm until June 30, 2027, with an option to extend until 2028.

The move signals a clear commitment to stability as the Bianconeri gear up for a pivotal season.

"Igor Tudor will lead the men's first team in the coming seasons, starting with the Club World Cup in the United States," Juventus stated, highlighting their confidence in the 47-year-old's vision.

The decision follows weeks of speculation about Tudor's future. New general manager Damien Comolli had already quashed doubts earlier this week, saying, "Igor Tudor will be our coach for the 2025-26 season."

This came after Juventus explored a blockbuster return for former manager Antonio Conte, who led them to three consecutive Serie A titles from 2011 to 2014. Conte, however, opted to stay with Napoli to defend their Scudetto, leaving Juventus to double down on Tudor.

Tudor, who took charge in March after Thiago Motta's dismissal, transformed Juventus' fortunes. Inheriting a side stuck in fifth place, he steered them to a fourth-place finish, securing Champions League qualification with only one league defeat.

"He's had a great impact," Juventus director Cristiano Giuntoli said in May, praising Tudor's ability to steady the ship during a turbulent campaign.

Now, Tudor faces a defining challenge as he leads Juventus into the Club World Cup, where they will battle Al Ain, Wydad AC, and Manchester City in the group stage.

The Croatian has already set his sights on strengthening the squad, with Bologna's Dan Ndoye named as a top transfer target to bolster the attack. "We need two or three signings to become genuine title contenders," Tudor said after the season-ending win over Venezia.

Juventus' decision to extend Tudor's contract stands out in a Serie A landscape marked by managerial upheaval, with many clubs already shaking up their dugouts just weeks after the 2024-25 season.

With a new deal signed and Comolli's backing, Tudor has the platform to restore Juventus to their former glory. As he put it, "Managing one of the most prestigious clubs of my career makes me hungry for success."

On X, Juventus celebrated the extension, posting, "Igor Tudor rinnova con la Juventus! Congratulazioni, mister!" The announcement, shared on June 13, sparked optimism among fans eager for a return to trophy-winning ways.
