Federico Gatti strikes in added time to deny AC Milan victory against Juventus

Federico Gatti scored in the 92nd minute to rescue a 1-1 draw for Juventus against AC Milan at the Allianz Stadium, extending their unbeaten Serie A record against the Rossoneri to seven matches.

Juventus started brightly after winning their opening two league games and created the better chances during a lively first half.

Kerim Alajbegovic, making his first start for Juventus at just 18, fired over the crossbar inside the opening two minutes. Nicolas Gonzalez then tested Mike Maignan with a powerful effort before Francisco Conceicao came close to breaking the deadlock.

Maignan was forced into another excellent save when Conceicao cut inside and struck towards the bottom corner. The Milan goalkeeper also denied the winger shortly before half-time after Conceicao found space behind the defence.

While Maignan was kept busy, Juventus goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario had little to do, with Milan failing to produce a shot on target before the interval.

Juventus continued to threaten after the break and Conceicao came within inches of opening the scoring when his powerful effort struck the base of the post.

Milan manager Ruben Amorim responded by making three changes just before the hour mark, bringing on Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Samuel Chukwueze and Alphadjo Cisse.

The changes quickly paid off.

Cisse, who had already scored on his Serie A debut against Torino, broke the deadlock in the 68th minute. He controlled Chukwueze's crossfield pass inside the penalty area before calmly sending a low finish into the far corner.

The goal ended Milan's six-match scoring drought against Juventus in Serie A and appeared set to give the visitors their first league win over the Bianconeri since May 2023.

Juventus threw everything forward in search of an equaliser, with Luciano Spalletti introducing Nick Woltemade for his debut. The striker had a chance six minutes from time but fired over after the ball fell to him inside the box.

Milan looked set to hold on, but Juventus produced one final twist.

Gatti, introduced from the bench only minutes earlier, rose to meet Teun Koopmeiners' superb cross and headed the ball beyond Maignan in the second minute of added time.

It was Gatti's second consecutive goal scored beyond the 90th minute, underlining his growing reputation for producing decisive moments when Juventus need them most.
