Hansi Flick hails Barcelona's five-star Valencia demolition

Barcelona controlled the match from the opening stages and never allowed Valencia to build any real momentum. Yamal led the way with two goals as Flick's side produced another impressive attacking display.

"It was a fantastic match, controlled from the start," Flick said. "We dominated and that's what I want to see.

"I'm not surprised by what we did because it's the quality with which you train. It was an almost perfect match."

Yamal had trained away from the main group the day before the game, but the teenager assured Flick that he was ready to play.

"Yesterday he trained separately from the group, but this morning we spoke and he told me he could play," Flick said.

The Barcelona boss was particularly pleased with Yamal's work without the ball.

"He was involved in the pressing and defending, very connected and that's very good."

Flick was equally impressed by Rodri, highlighting the midfielder's influence both on the pitch and inside the dressing room.

"Everything Rodri does makes sense. It's exciting. Not only on the pitch, but also in the dressing room," Flick said.

"He's a real leader."

Flick also believes Rodri's arrival can help young midfielder Marc Bernal develop.

"Marc Bernal is also doing a good job. He will get opportunities and he will improve more and more thanks to this signing," he added.

Fermin was another player to earn praise after contributing to Barcelona's victory. Flick believes his intensity remains one of his biggest strengths, although there is still room for improvement.

"We see what kind of player he is with what he does close to and outside the box," Flick said.

"He always presses, he does well with and without the ball, he scores goals. His strength is the intensity, but he makes some mistakes, although he's doing fantastically."

Dani Olmo also made an impact after starting on the bench, providing two assists following his introduction.

Flick admitted that managing Barcelona's squad is not easy when several players are competing for places.

"There are many players who can play and I have to manage this. It's not easy for a player to be a substitute, but in football everything can change," he said.

"I'm happy for Dani, for how he came off the bench. He's very intelligent. We always try to make the best decisions for the team."

Barcelona have now scored 17 goals in their opening four league matches despite playing without a traditional No. 9, but Flick insisted that has not changed his plans.

"It doesn't change our idea. We need a No. 9," he said.

"I'm happy because Pedri has also scored. Everyone who plays on the pitch can score goals. We take advantage of the spaces and wait to score."

Despite the emphatic scoreline, Flick was already demanding more from his players.

"I don't know if it's necessary to say it after a 0-5, but we can always do better," he said.

"We have to try to control the game better with more passes. There are many games and you always have to control the energy."

Barcelona play next against Feyenoord on Wednesday in a UEFA Champions League match at the Spotify Camp Nou in Barcelona.
