Hugo Broos' side secured a famous victory at Estadio Monterrey to finish second in Group A, booking a blockbuster knockout clash against tournament co-hosts Canada in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Speaking after the match, Maseko described the decisive strike as a special milestone but insisted Bafana's success was built on collective effort and strict adherence to the team's game plan.
"First of all, it is unbelievable. It is amazing, I feel like I am dreaming. I would like to thank everyone, our supporters back at home, our families and the coaching staff - they believed in me. Today I was missing, I missed some goals, missed some chances but we prevailed - I was able to help the team and that is all that matters," said Maseko.
Maseko had multiple chances before scoring and he explained why he did not drop his head during those frustrating spells.
"I have been watching games, I've watched players, I've watched players. I have been watching Vini, Mbappe - they don't just give up after the first, second, third match they go on and on. It's football you just don't give up - you go on and on, that is how it is," added Maseko.
Asked if he’d made sense yet of putting one away at the World Cup, the 22-year-old said not everyone gets to have that on their records.
"Amazing. It is not just anyone, I am privileged and I am thankful," he expressed.
Meanwhile, teammate Relebohile Mofokeng also weighed in on the achievement – applauding the tactics against South Korea and discipline.
