The two-time Champions League winners are pitted against nine other top African clubs, including TP Mazembe of DR Congo, AS Far of Morocco and JKT Queens of Tanzania.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Sapula says the nomination serves as a motivation for the club to remain relevant and competitive throughout.
“I think for me it is an honour and a privilege to be part of this club, as these developments take place. I also think that as a club, we receive the news with gratitude; this also serves as motivation for us to remain relevant and competitive.
“This highlights the hard work of everyone associated with the team,’’ said Sapula.
“If you look at the two goalkeepers, they have played almost the same number of games, which speaks to their calibre, and Mbane, on the other hand, is a defender of note. We are absolutely blessed to have these players in our squad,’’ added Sapula.
The 2025 CAF Awards will be held around December in Morocco, with the date yet to be confirmed.
