Marumo Gallants' winless run continues with narrow loss to Durban City

The match began with an aggressive approach from the visitors with numerous fouls awarded to TS Galaxy in the first 20 minutes of the half, with some Gallants players needing treatment.

City striker Bokang Mokwena tested Gallant's Washington Arubi in the 19th minute with the Zimbabwean goalkeeper making a comfortable save.

A tough battle ensued with both teams failing to create clear cut chances in a stop start first half dominated by set-pieces.

The Durban based side took the lead a minute into the second half with a good strike inside the box from the tricky Saziso Magawana after a Kyle Jurgens assist.

Brooklyn Poggenpoel almost doubled the lead in the 49th minute but failed to direct his header on target as both teams continued the physical battle on the field.

Few clear chances were created in the second half, despite the referee adding six minutes of injury time for all the stoppages as City won their second match on the trot.

The result sees Durban City jump into fourth spot on the league table after consecutive wins while remain in 14th position, ahead of Orbit College only on goal difference.
