Fadlu Davids joins Raja Casablanca on two-year deal

After parting ways with Maritzburg United last week, coach Fadlu Davids is understood to have already landed another job.

SABC Sport has established Morocco giants Raja Casablanca have offered the tactician a two-year deal to reunite with Josef Zinnbauer, who was recently appointed head coach and requested Davids to join his backroom staff.

The duo worked together at Orlando Pirates and Lokomotiv Moscow before they were sacked following a brief stint in the Russian Premier League.

It’s understood Davids is also bringing along Mueez Kajee a performance analyst who was part of his staff at Maritzburg.

According to Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia, who confirmed to SABC Sport on Monday he had informed Davids and his technical team of the club’s decision to allow them to leave after they were relegated to the second tier of the Premier Soccer League (PSL), the coach had long begun talks with Raja.

Kadodia brought Davids back to the Midlands earlier this year on the back of sacking John Maduka owing to a string of poor results before the league paused for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar in November.

Davids made changes to the squad, but in the end could not get them out of trouble – landing them in the play-offs, where they were outpaced by Shaun Bartlett’s Cape Town Spurs for the DStv Premiership spot.

The ex-Manning Rangers striker is set to now join Raja along with Kajee.
