Expect to see the best of Mbokazi in a Bafana Bafana jersey - Nkosinathi Sibisi

Stand-in Bafana Bafana captain Nkosinathi “Bhodlela” Sibisi says tonight, South Africa will see the best of Mbekezeli Mbokazi in a Bafana jersey, when he makes his debut at senior international level, during a friendly match against neighbours Mozambique in Polokwane.

Sibisi will play alongside his Orlando Pirates teammate for the first time at Bafana, as Hugo Broos’ team wraps up the international week of friendly matches at the Peter Mokaba stadium.

Mbokazi has shown his class at Pirates and also in the national U20 team, and Sibisi has no doubt that he will make it at Bafana as well.

"As you said you know I've played with Mbokazi at club level. It won't be any different in the national team. He's a very humble boy and he takes instructions very well. So, for me, it's very easy to play alongside him,” Sibisi said.

“I don't think tomorrow it will be a big change for him as the coach has mentioned, it's a perfect choice for me to partner with him and to give him that guidance and give him that confidence to able to take his chance and I think tomorrow you'll be able to see the best of him."

Sibisi is not a stranger to wearing an armband, having captained Orlando Pirates a number of times, but at Bafana, he’s in the spotlight tonight after Fawaaz Basadien wore the armband against Tanzania last week.

For the man from eMpophomeni in Howick, this is something special.

"Obviously, it ranks very high, for me, it's a privilege and an honour to be able to lead the team and I'd like to thank the coach for showing the confidence in me. We've been together from the very first camp he came, and I'd like to say thanks to him because there were sometimes question marks whenever I was here but to be able to lead the team tomorrow would be a huge honour and privilege for me," he added.

A win tonight is very important to ensure that Bafana continues to improve in the rankings.

Sibisi says it’s also important that the team finishes this camp with a morale-boosting victory.

"No, for sure the results always matter, as players we always play to win games and it's really boosted our confidence, we've been on a winning streak for quite some time now and I think tomorrow won't be any different. We'd be going there to fight and to win, we know if we win the country would be more happier and it's a safer place for everyone."
