Eintracht Frankfurt sack Dino Toppmoller after four games without a win

Frankfurt and Bremen drew 3-3 with Ansgar Knauff scoring a very late equaliser to rescue a point for die Adler.

The result means it has been four Bundesliga games since Frankfurt last tasted victory in the league in a run stretching back to mid-December.

They are still seventh in the league, just outside the European qualifying place,s but the club felt a new direction was required to take them forward.

Toppmoller had been with the club since 202,3 with a best Bundesliga finish of third in the 2024-25 season, which also qualified them for the Champions League.

A statement from the club suggests the result this weekend had little influence in their decision, which was taken after a "comprehensive sporting and structural analysis [of the team] over the past few weeks".

"Dino Toppmoller always identified fully with Eintracht Frankfurt and worked for the club with great passion on a daily basis," said Eintracht's board member for sport Markus Krösche.

"We really appreciate his technical expertise, his professionalism, his meticulous approach to his work and personal interaction with the team.

"Nevertheless, after intensive internal evaluation, we in the sporting management and collectively on the board have come to the conclusion that we need fresh impetus after the downward trend in recent weeks."

Toppmoller accepted the news with grace, wishing the club well for its future without him.

"I'd have loved to continue working with this team and continue to face the challenges that lie ahead, but I accept the decision," he said.

"Notwithstanding the current unsatisfactory situation, I'm proud of what we've achieved together over the past two and a half years. I wish Eintracht calmer and, above all, more successful times."
