DStv: Royal AM pile on the misery for Richards Bay

Richards Bay's relegation anxiety increased on Saturday after a 2-1 loss against their rivals Royal AM at the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium.

After a goalless first-half, the Royal AM gave their fans something to celebrate in the 52nd minute. Menzi Masuku was fouled in the danger zone and Motebang Sera coolly slotted the ball past Salim Magoola in the Richards Bay goal.

Eight minutes later, Thwihli Thwahla were awarded a second penalty after Simphiwe Mcineka brought down an opponent in the 18-yard area.

Masuku rose for the occasion and found the back of the net to make it 2-0 in favour of the visitors.

With 15 minutes to go, Somila Ntsundwana provided a good cross in the area and Yanela Mbuthuma halved the deficit. But Royal AM stood firm to win the game 2-1 and clinched bragging rights.

Richards Bay are now firmly rooted in the relegation zone and are six points below safety which keeps them at the risk of demotion.

Losing the bragging rights and increasing relegation worries is not what their supporters had anticipated.
