Copperbelt Ladies coach makes bold Hollywoodbets Super League title claim

Copperbelt Ladies FC coach Tebatso Sebela has made a bold claim that they will be the champions of the 2026 Hollywoodbets Super League Amplified.

Sebela’s side was drawn in the Super Era group in the new format of the league, and he believes they’ll be able to finish ahead of the other teams and play the championship match against the winner of the Super Rise group.

Copperbelt had a decent season last year where they finished in 8th position, and the coach says it’s time to take things up a notch.

"We will continue where we left off last season. I'm not undermining any team, but our group isn't the group of death. All the teams that are there in the group with us we managed to take a point and sometimes maximum points from them last season - besides Fort Hare.

"Our team is well motivated, we also managed to sign new players that will add more value to the team, that's why I'm confident that we'll take position number one."

He says they were able to achieve their goals last season, and is confident they can do that again as they aim to topple Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies, who have won the championship for the past six years in a row. He added that he will become the youngest coach to win the women’s league since its formation.

"Last season our target was 40 points and we managed to work hard and achieve that target. This season, our target is number one and I also want to make history as the youngest coach in the league. I want to be the youngest coach to win the league and the first coach to take the trophy to Limpopo."

Sebela gave the new-look league a thumbs up, and is happy they will play a lot less matches than they normally would. From a 30-game season, the teams will only play 14 matches each in the regular season in their two groups of eight, and he believes this will reduce risk of injury for the players.

Copperbelt Ladies will get their season underway with a clash against Richmond United on the weekend of the 22nd of May at UJ Soweto Campus.
