Cole Alexander agrees Kaizer Chiefs exit

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Cole Alexander is a free agent after agreeing to leave the club with a year left on his contract, SABC Sport can confirm.

The public broadcaster reported earlier this week the Glamour Boys were in talks with Alexander and defender Austin Dube regarding a payout.

While Dube is still negotiating his settlement, it’s now been revealed to SABC Sport that Alexander will leave Naturena.

He joined Chiefs from Odisha in the Indian Premier League at the time when Chiefs appointed Stuart Baxter – the two were at the same club.

But injuries and a lack of game time under Arthur Zwane last season suggested Alexander might not be in the club’s plans going forward considering he’d only featured in seven matches throughout the campaign.

The soon to be 34-year-old now becomes a free agent and can join a club of his choice from 1 July, with his camp now actively looking to find him a new home in the Premier Soccer League.

Chiefs will likely continue to shuffle the squad in the coming days as Dube has not been in training this week.

The Soweto giants also announced the surprise decision on Wednesday night to appoint Molefi Ntseki as the new head coach following a deadlock in talks with candidate Narseddine Nabi.

Ntseki takes over from Zwane, who has since been demoted back to being an assistant alongside Dillon Shepperd.

As things stand, Chiefs have signed defenders Given Msimango, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe and Mduduzi Mdantsane.
