Cavin Johnsons’ Kaizer Chiefs changes evident - Jose Riveiro

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro claims he can already spot the detailed changes his Kaizer Chiefs counterpart Cavin Johnson has implemented in his brief period in charge.

The two sides square off in the Soweto Derby at FNB Stadium tomorrow afternoon, with the Spanish mentor expecting a tactical battle.

Riveiro explains where he’s picked up Johnson’s influence in just two games.

"They are doing changes already, you can see in the recent games, there are certain things that are new, especially in the build-up," said Riveiro.

"They also have players like [Keagan] Dolly coming back and playing an important role in the way they want to play, and the new signing of [Sibongiseni] Mthethwa brings a new element."

Riveiro adds the Derby is unlikely to give a conclusive idea of Johnson’s approach as interim coach at Chiefs.

"But still, it's early to get a lot of conclusions about what the coach or technical team is looking for with the team, they need time to develop their ideas and thoughts," he added.

"Whatever happens on Saturday, I think it's still too early to have a judgement of what Coach Cavin is trying to do with the team.

"Is that an advantage for us? No. Maybe, when we manage to get the result, one of the observations in the end will probably be, especially from you guys [media], that it can be an advantage [to face a new Chiefs coach]."
