Cape Town City snap losing run with Galaxy stalemate

Cape Town City FC broke a four-match losing streak after playing to a goalless draw with TS Galaxy at the Mbombela Stadium on Wednesday evening.

It was a good start by City. Khanyisa Mayo™s header was on target but not enough to worry the hosts. Mayo threatened again just a few minutes later when he lashed a shot down the middle which was parried away by the goalkeeper for the corner.

City were all over Galaxy and Marc van Heerden almost found the back of the net when he was able to creep in at the back post unnoticed.

Galaxy stifled their opponents in the second half despite City enjoying almost two thirds of the possession. Galaxy keeper Vasilije Kolak made three saves to keep the Rockets at bay.

Just past the hour mark, City midfielder Thabo Nodada brought a fine save out of Kolak with a powerful long-range effort.

Moments later, Galaxy central midfielder Bernard Parker also came close with a parting shot that forced a good save from Keet.
