Cameron Cox honoured to join Kaizer Chiefs Ladies technical team

Newly appointed Kaizer Chiefs Ladies assistant coach Cameron Cox says he is honoured to join a club with a rich history and passionate supporters across the continent.

Cox joined Amakhosazana three weeks ago to work alongside head coach Unathi Mabena as the team targets success in the 2026 Gauteng Sasol League campaign.

Speaking to SABC Sport, Cox says he hopes to help the newly formed side build a strong identity while contributing professionalism and discipline to the squad.

“I’m truly honoured and excited to have joined the Kaizer Chiefs Ladies team. This is a great opportunity to be part of a club with such a rich history, strong values, and passionate supporters," said Cox.

“I believe my experience in football can help bring professionalism, discipline, and a competitive mindset to the team.

"Women’s football is growing rapidly, and my goal is to help the players develop both technically and mentally so that they can compete at the highest level.

"I want us to build a strong identity, play exciting football, and make management and the supporters proud while striving for success in every competition."

The Glamour Girls opened their league campaign with a 2-0 defeat to defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies before playing to a goalless draw against MUSA United and securing a 2-0 victory over JVW FC.

Despite the early setback, Cox believes the team has made an encouraging start to the season.

“So far we are pleased with the attitude and commitment the players have shown. Losing only one match in three fixtures shows that the team is competitive and willing to fight in every game," he added.

“Of course, there is still room for improvement, but the foundation is encouraging. What has impressed us most is the team spirit, discipline, and the willingness of the players to adapt to new ideas and work hard for one another."

Chiefs will face Future Star on Sunday at the Kaizer Chiefs Village, with kick-off scheduled for 11:00, and Cox says the team will approach the match with the seriousness it deserves.

“Every match is important, especially in a competitive league where small details can make the difference. Preparation this week has focused on improving our tactical discipline, decision-making, and sharpness in key moments.

"We want the team to play with confidence, intensity, and the right mentality from the first whistle,” he concluded.
