Bukayo Saka, Riccardo Calafiori returns boost Arsenal for Premier League run-in

Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed both players will return to the squad after injury layoffs, with Saka overcoming a lingering Achilles issue that had hampered his recent performances, and Calafiori also recovering from a knock. However, Jurrien Timber remains sidelined.

"Bukayo (Saka) is probably going to be in the squad, so good news," Arteta said. "Riccardo (Calafiori) is in the squad."

"He (Saka) was in great spirits today in the sun; you could see that today."

Saka's return comes at a crucial moment, with Arteta acknowledging the winger had been struggling physically prior to his absence.

"We've given him some time. There was a moment where he was struggling to sustain his performances because he wasn't comfortable at all," said the Gunners boss.

"We've done that, he had the right treatment, the right space and had some time for himself too. It's now the most important time of the season and he's back with us."

The reinforcements arrive as Arsenal look to respond to a dramatic shift in the title race. Manchester City's win over Burnley saw them overturn a nine-point deficit and move top of the table on goal difference, ending Arsenal's long spell at the summit.

Despite the swing, Arteta has dismissed concerns over any psychological impact on his players, instead urging them to embrace the challenge ahead.

âœThere is no psychological effect," he said. âœFor months we were being chased - now it's about winning the next game. Five matches left, everything to play for. We go all in."

With City occupied in FA Cup action this weekend, Arsenal have the chance to reclaim top spot with victory over Newcastle. Arteta insists his side will remain focused solely on results rather than potential tie-breakers such as goal difference.

âœThe priority is to earn the right to win and then do it," he added. âœThat's all that matters right now."

Defender William Saliba echoed that sentiment, calling for composure and total commitment as the season reaches its climax.

âœWe have to stay calm, but give everything now," Saliba said. âœThis is the moment - we need everyone, the fans, the team, the staff. After this, it's too late."
