Breaking: Miguel Timm signs with new PSL club

SABC Sport can confirm that midfielder Miguel Timm will join Sekhukhune United on a free transfer in July, subject to a medical.

The public broadcaster confirmed earlier this month that the player would be leaving the Soweto giants to start a fresh chapter next season.

Miguel bid farewell to his now former teammates this week in anticipation of putting pen to paper with Sekhukhune – long time admirers, who were on the verge of signing the player from Marumo Gallants in 2022 until Pirates hijacked the deal despite the agreement being concluded in principle.

Timm won five trophies with The Buccaneers under coach Jose Riveiro, who has since left the club and is reportedly joining Al Ahly in Egypt.

There were murmurs that Timm could possibly follow him to North Africa, but that discussion only remained speculation as SABC Sport can now confirm that Timm has agreed to move to Babina Noko.

Subject to medicals and the finer details, the 33-year-old is set to reunite with coach Eric Tinkler, having worked closely with the former Bafana Bafana international during his stint with Maritzburg United.

Timm’s first season with Pirates was memorable as one of the standout players in the beginning of Riveiro’s revolution of the South African giants.

With time, his minutes on the pitch were limited given the competition on the pitch, although Pirates had extended his contract at the start of the 2024/25 season.

The option was not triggered, allowing the player to become a free agent effective 1 July and sign a pre-contract with Sekhukhune.

It’s believed he is the first of several signings Babina Noko will make ahead of the new campaign, which kicks off in August.
