Brandon Truter on handling demanding 2023/24 season with Sekhukhune United

Sekhukhune United will be put to the test next season as they juggle the demands of domestic and continental football.

Coach Brandon Truter says he has the desire to make sure Babina Noko do not just make up the numbers in the 2023/24 DStv Premiership season and the CAF Confederation Cup in the coming months.

Truter believes in his group.

"Of course, challenging on all fronts and seeing what Marumo [Gallants] went through this season, playing so well in CAF but domestic form suffered. We have to be mindful of that. Obviously at this moment also we have to be mindful of the squad size in terms of quality and in terms of quantity as well," he said.

Sekhukhune sealed their CAF spot on the back of reaching the Nedbank Cup final, with eventual winners Orlando Pirates already qualified because of their DStv Premiership log standings.

The coach warns they have to approach the inter-club tournament with caution.

"Being in the second season only in the PSL, we have to choose our battles very, very carefully. We have a status to protect as well in terms of, we saw what happened with Marumo going all the way to the semi-final then getting relegated locally," the coach explained.

Truter adds that he’s got some big decisions to make regarding the team.

"Our squad depth, of course we need to rectify that. There are challenges in there, we have some loaned players as well. So, we have to sit down now during this break and really analyse it and see where we can beef it up and strengthen it as well."
