Barcelona secure return of Ghanaian midfielder Abdul Azziz Issah on loan

Barcelona have finalised a fresh loan deal for 19-year-old Ghanaian midfielder Abdul Azziz Issah, who will return to the club for the 2025–26 season.

Issah will again be assigned to Barca Atletic, the club's B team, following a brief stint last season in which he played just 26 minutes across two appearances under coach Albert Sanchez.

Despite his limited opportunities in Spain, Issah boasts a strong track record with his parent club, Dreams FC, where he amassed 61 appearances, scoring 12 goals and providing 4 assists in the Ghanaian Premier League.

Barcelona reportedly did not trigger a purchase option after Issah's first loan, but Spanish outlet Sport confirms a new agreement is now in place. According to Ghana Soccer Net, via journalist Saddick Adams, Barcelona initially tabled a 400,000-euro offer.

The final deal is said to be worth 1 million euros, though it remains unclear whether this figure represents a loan fee or a permanent transfer. Barcelona have not disclosed financial details, having only confirmed the loan arrangement publicly.

On the international stage, Issah has impressed for Ghana. He earned five caps at under-20 level, featuring in the 2025 U-20 African Cup of Nations.

He scored once in four appearances and was named Man of the Match in the quarter-final against Egypt, which Ghana lost on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

In May, he made his senior debut for the Black Stars, playing 30 minutes in a 4-0 friendly win over Trinidad and Tobago under head coach Otto Addo.
