Bafana Bafana will play both International Friendlies in Polokwane

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has confirmed that both international friendly matches against Tanzania and Mozambique will be played at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

The initial plan was to play the Tanzania game in Polokwane on Friday and move to Loftus Stadium in Pretoria for the Mozambique contest.

Broos revealed that there had been some uncertainty about the venues for these two matches, and now that the Bulls are playing a United Rugby Championship semifinal against the Sharks at Loftus on Saturday, Hugo Broos and Bafana Bafana will remain in Polokwane.

"We really had to search for two stadiums where we can play our two friendlies. In the beginning, there were murmurs about Durban, PE, Polokwane, and Johannesburg.

"Despite all of the challenges we faced, I'm very happy that we can play our two matches here, and I think this stadium is a great venue," asserted the Belgian boss.

Broos has also emphasised that the results of the two friendly matches are not important as he aims to give all 23 selected players a chance, particularly those who are new to the team.

"I think these two matches are great opportunities for the new players and also the younger players who have joined us. There is no pressure when one plays friendly matches, and from my side, I will give every player the same amount of game time," said the well-travelled coach.

Norwegian-based left-back Samukelo Kabini and Swedish-based midfielder Luke le Roux are the only players yet to arrive at the Bafana Bafana camp.

Broos has also confirmed that Orlando Pirates defender Nkosinathi Sibisi will captain the team in the two matches.

"We are still not complete because some players only played yesterday, but we will give Samukelo Kabini and Luke le Roux a break so that they can play on Tuesday.

"With Sibisi, we have a good captain, and since I've arrived, he's been with us, he's experienced and he has the respect from everybody in the group," said Hugo Broos.

Broos also excused the Mamelodi Sundowns players from this camp, as they were preoccupied with the CAF Champions League final and are also preparing for the FIFA Club World Cup in the USA, starting next week.

He says this is also part of preparing for refreshing the national team for the future.
