Arthur Zwane Emphasises Fast Start

AmaZulu head coach Arthur Zwane believes a strong start to the 2025/26 Betway Premiership campaign is crucial to avoid playing catch-up later in the season.

Zwane is determined to steer the club clear of the struggles they faced two seasons ago, when they flirted with relegation and finished 11th.

Last season, Usuthu showed marked improvement, ending 6th, and Zwane says they want to build on that momentum when they host newly-promoted Orbit College in their opening fixture at Princess Magogo Stadium.

"We want to continue where we left off and build on our log position from last season. The battle for the top eight will be fierce, but we are ready," said 10111.

After bowing out of the MTN8 quarterfinals last weekend against Stellenbosch FC in a hard-fought 120-minute battle, Zwane says the team must quickly regroup and focus on the league.

The former Kaizer Chiefs mentor is eager for his squad to turn disappointment into motivation ahead of the new campaign.

The KZN outfit released 16 players in the off-season, including several experienced campaigners, signalling a shift toward a younger, more energetic squad.

After the loss to Stellies on Saturday, Zwane insists that player recruitment is being approached with purpose, and not just to fill numbers.

"I don't think the outcome of one game will change our minds regarding the squad we have assembled.

"We will nevertheless look at what we might need, and take it from there."
