The Swiss-born mentor appeared the happier of the two coaches in the first leg of the CAF Champions League semi-finals played at Loftus Stadium on Saturday afternoon, with the Egyptians holding Downs to a goalless draw.
Ahly, the title holders, were calculated and had the better chances overall with a goal ruled offside by VAR.
Koller has promised to up the ante on Friday in the return fixture.
"We know already the point, we have not scored a goal. In Cairo, we have to score two goals, we know that. At the beginning, I said only the half-time is over, we have another half-time of the game, and we should have 100% concentration in Cairo in the second game," said Koller.
The Ahly coach was disappointed to see technology deny them what would have been a crucial away goal.
But admits it was the right call.
"I was happy that we scored this goal already, it's nice to have this goal and it was offside I know and the referee did well. I warned the referee to go see it again to check out if it was really offside or not," he added.
It was the first time Koller avoided defeat against Sundowns in Tshwane, and the Ahly coach believes this was proof his charges have matured.
"We have more experience, we see the team of Sundowns and we analysed the team very well and we discussed and we saw which part is strong and which one is not. We told the team which part would be necessary to achieve to have a good result in this game."
