Sharks centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg joins Canon Eagles in Japan

The Canon Eagles in Japan have confirmed the arrival of another South African on their books in Sharks centre Rohan Janse van Rensburg.

Janse van Rensburg rejoined the Sharks in 2022 after a five-year spell with the Sale Sharks in England but has struggled for game time in Durban, making just eight appearances since his arrival.

Japanese Division One side Canon Eagles officially unveiled the 29-year-old on Tuesday, confirming he joins the side with immediate effect.

"I'm very excited to join the Yokohama Canon Eagles team, it's a real honour for me to represent the club and its people," Janse van Rensburg said.

"I strive to help the team in any way possible and can't wait to build long-lasting relationships within this season. I can't wait to show you all as much of me as I can in this season."

Janse van Rensburg, who also has one Springbok cap to his name, will join up with fellow Boks Faf de Klerk and Jesse Kriel at Canon Eagles.

The inside centre is there to provide cover for Kriel, who underwent surgery on his thumb last month.
