Six internationals feature in the Sharks’ matchday 23, with Edwill van der Merwe, André Esterhuizen and Thomas du Toit starting, while Ox Nché, Eben Etzebeth and Ethan Hooker to be introduced from the bench.
Pietersen says there was little convincing needed to get the Boks involved.
"I think it was easy to pick them because when you ask them if they are available to play, they immediately put their hands up and this makes our job so much easier. We have to manage their workload, but it's great to have them back."
Leinster have also shuffled their side, making five changes to the team that suffered a narrow defeat to the Lions last weekend, with some of their more experienced players returning to the starting lineup.
Sharks flyhalf Vusi Moyo is relishing the opportunity to measure himself against the reigning URC champions as he prepares for another demanding assignment at Kings Park. The 20-year-old playmaker understands the responsibility that comes with wearing the number 10 jersey, particularly against a Leinster side capable of putting pressure on the Sharks’ decision-making and game management.
"For me it's just about having confidence in myself and the coaches plans, and with the Springboks coming back, you get the sense that you feel stronger and safer around the guys
Moyo retains his place at flyhalf, with André Esterhuizen back at inside centre and providing experience outside him. The youngster says the competition for places has helped raise standards in the squad, with fellow flyhalves Jordan Hendrikse and Siya Masuku continuing to share their knowledge and continue to push him despite not being selected.
Saturday’s United Rugby Championship clash between the Sharks and defending champions Leinster kicks off at 18:30 at Kings Park.
