This after securing two straight wins against Brazil and Italy to lead Pool D with 10 points and secured a spot in the last eight.
Bok Women have participated in the world showpiece since 2006, and have struggled to secure a spot in the top eight in 5 consecutive World Cups.
Speaking to SABC Sport, Booi says she is happy that they managed to display a world class performance which saw them make history.
“First of all, I am happy to be a part of history makers. I was also happy to see a great number of South Africans who came to see us. The support has been amazing. I am happy to see the growth of our team and the way we applied ourselves against Italy,’’ said Booi.
Bok Women secured a dominant 66-6 win against Brazil in their open match followed by their historic 24-29 win against Italy. Booi says sticking to the game plan and working toward one vision has been a key factor to help win games.
“The coaches have helped us to be better and have helped us to believe in ourselves. I am glad that we have followed the instructions regarding our game plan in the past two games. Now we are implementing everything that we have been learning. I also want to praise all the players who paved the way for us, it took a while for the women’s team to get to this point," she added.
South Africa will play their final Pool D match against France in Northampton on Sunday. Booi says they hope to maintain the winning momentum when they face off with the French.
“It's good that we find ourselves here. In the past it would be tough to secure a win in our pool, but look now we will be playing in the quarter-finals. I hope we maintain our winning momentum,’’ she expressed.
