Manie Libbok reflects on superlative Stormers victory

Stormers flyhalf Manie Libbok reflected on his teams' URC semifinal win over Connacht on Saturday.

The Cape Town franchise recovered from a nervy opening few minutes to put on a fantastic display of running rugby and blow past the Irish side 43-25 in front of a packed house.

Libbok delivered another man-of-the-match performance, contributing 23 points, including two tries. The flyhalf also executed a pinpoint crossfield kick for winger Angelo Davids to grab and get over the whitewash.

The duo combined again later, with Davids coming off his wing, running over his tackler and slipping the ball outside to Libbok.

Fielding a kick, the Stormers playmaker also had a go at the Connacht defensive line, scything through on his way to the whitewash.

"We know some of the teams are ball-in-hand teams, but after a couple of phases, they will kick," Libbok told IOL.

"And once the kick comes, we must be able to handle it. When we deal with it, we can hurt them on the transition, because you will have mismatches.

"Tighties [forwards] want to be on the edge and in the middle. Most of their backs will go to the other side.

"So on the one side, you will run against forwards, and that's what happened. When we are unpredictable, that's when we are very dangerous."

The Stormers booked themselves a place in their second URC final, where they host Munster on 27 May.
