England put in strong second half show to down Australia at Twickenham

England scored four tries to beat Australia 25-7 at the Allianz Stadium, Twickenham on Saturday.

George Ford opened the scoring with a penalty before Ben Earl showed his pace as he cantered in under the poles as the home side took a 10-0 lead.

Australia though hit back when left-wing Harry Potter intercepted and ran the length of the field to get the visitors on the scoreboard.

With only a three-point gap going into halftime, England extended their lead after the interval when Henry Pollock went over for a try.

A snipe from Alex Mitchell and a rolling maul steered over the line by Luke Cowan-Dickie ensured they could see out the final stages in comfort.

The home side could call on a power-packed bench to make the difference in the second and ultimately put the Wallabies away.

Australia, who were missing Len Ikitau, Tom Hooper and Will Skelton for a Test taking place outside the Test window, suffered for their lack of depth.

England have now won eight consecutive Test matches, a run stretching back to their defeat in the opening game of this year's Six Nations in Ireland.
