Eben Etzebeth explains haircut as RG Snyman leaves a mark Boks

Springbok veteran Eben Etzebeth has revealed his latest haircut was the result of a bet with fellow lock RG Snyman.

Not-so-fresh off celebrations that went long into the night, Etzebeth emerged on Sunday morning sporting a haircut not dissimilar to that of teammate RG Snyman.

The two-time World Cup winner briefly alluded to the revelry at the World Rugby Awards in Paris that night, but finally revealed all to the press when the team arrived back on South African soil on Tuesday.

"About five weeks ago, me and RG Snyman spoke on the bus and I said 'If we win the World Cup, I'll cut my hair the same as yours'," said Etzebeth.

"Obviously, after the win in the final, it was about 04:30 in the morning, and the last time I drank water was in the game. So we weren't drinking water. And he just reminded me about our bet and obviously, I wanted to be a man of my word.

"I mean, winning this cup with these guys¦ I'll do anything. So he sat me down and Damian Willemse cut my hair. I've gotten a few compliments from my friends and my wife also says it's not too bad, so as long as she's happy, I'm happy."

Let's also spare a thought for Jasper Wiese, who was "kaalkop" after losing a battle with the clippers during Saturday night's celebrations.

But the story doesn't end there. . .

Springbok social media reveals that Snyman is still running amok with the clippers, as fellow lock Jean Kleyn, livewire Cobus Reinach and barber-turned-victim Willemse are the latest Boks sporting the Viking mohawk.

Rabble-rouser Snyman's influence continued as he posed for selfies with the likes of captain Siya Kolisi, Canan Moodie and Willemse getting new tattoos to commemorate their World Cup triumph.
