The home side scored six tries to the Scottish outfit's five and it was the visitors that held a 21-18 lead at halftime.
Bulls flyhalf Keagan Johannes scored a superb solo try and overall contributed 17 points as the hosts initially fought back from a 21-8 deficit in the opening stages.
The game did not start on the right note for the home team when wing Sebastian de Klerk was sent to the sin bin for a dangerous tackle after just four minutes.
Edinburgh then took advantage of their numerical supremacy as Wes Goosen went over for the game's first try that was converted by flyhalf Ross Thompson.
The Bulls responded with a penalty from Johannes to narrow the gap but the visitors once again scored a five-pointer through Thompson, who converted.
Jake White's charges scored their first try shortly after De Klerk returned to the field with Cameron Hanekom powering over the line.
The Scottish side though showed they would be no pushovers as Thompson went over for second try to give Edinburgh a significant advantage on the scoreboard.
The Bulls hit back just before the halftime break with a double strike, first a well-constructed try by centre David Kriel and then Harold Vorster went over to cut the deficit to three points.
The momentum continued with the South Africans after interval with Canan Moodie adding a fourth try and then Johannes produced his magic to add another five-pointer.
The Bulls were now in dominant mood and captain Ruan Nortje forced his way over for his team's sixth try and clear daylight on the scoreboard.
Edinburgh refused to to give up in the contest and hit back with tries through hooker Ewan Ashman and a second for Goosen but it wasn't enough as the Bulls sealed their place in the last-four.
White and his team will now face either the Sharks or Munster for a place in the URC final.
