Two Oceans Marathon Trail Run opens entries

Two Oceans Marathon NPC chairperson Chris Goldschmidt has urged runners to secure their entries early for the popular Two Oceans Marathon Trail Run to avoid disappointment.

Entries for the trail run, which features two distances of approximately 16km and 24km, open today at 12pm.

Each distance is limited to just 500 runners, with organisers encouraging participants to act quickly and take advantage of the opportunity to explore the scenic Cape Town mountain trails.

The trail run will take place on 10 April at the University of Cape Town, during the same weekend as the iconic Two Oceans Marathon.

Entry fees are set at R750 for the 16km race and R950 for the 24km event.

“We’re excited to kick off 2026 with the opening of entries for the Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon Trail Run,” Goldschmidt told SABC Sport

“The ±16km and ±24km trail runs offer participants a rare opportunity to explore the stunning and challenging trails of Table Mountain during the Two Oceans Marathon weekend.

With each distance limited to just 500 runners, this is an intimate and exclusive experience in one of the world’s most breathtaking natural settings.”

Two Oceans Marathon general manager Wade Bromfield echoed Goldschmidt’s sentiments, saying the trail run adds another layer of excitement to an already action-packed weekend.

“The Two Oceans Marathon Trail Run allows even more runners to immerse themselves in the unique atmosphere and vibrant energy of this iconic celebration of running,” said Bromfield.

“The routes showcase some of the most breathtaking scenery and authentic trail-running terrain on Table Mountain, offering a challenge that is as achievable, just as it is exhilarating.”

Bromfield encouraged runners to visit www.twooceansmarathon.org.za this afternoon for more information and to enter, warning that the races are likely to sell out by the end of the day.
