Justin Clarke sets out for redemption on home turf

After a devastating loss in Benin last year, Justin Clarke is ready to unleash a more dangerous version of himself in the co-main event of a blockbuster PFL Africa fight night on Friday, 10 April.

After steamrolling through the early stages of the PFL’s Heavyweight tournament in 2025, Clarke suffered the first loss of his pro-career against Abraham Bably which not only cost him the championship and a PFL Global opportunity, but also $100,000.

The local heavyweight says he is ready to showcase a less hesitant and more savage version of himself against Abdoulaye Kane.

"Without giving too much away, I've watched Kane's videos – he doesn't touch gloves so I'm not going to go touch gloves, as soon as the ref says, 'Fight!" I go in and what will be, will be," said Clarke.

"I can't tell you if there's a planned opening move or some spectacular way of starting a fight – you just kind of be in the middle and see what happens from there.

"But what it means is I came into fighting Abraham Bably in the season finale last year, expecting – in my own mind – this is a five round fight, it wouldn't be clever to go and just blitz, which is exactly what he did.

"Now that worked for him, it might not work next time, and if that doesn't work, it's a long 25 minutes. So, that's what I mean about that.

"It's just that I approached it as, 'We're just going to feel each other up and build up that excitement into the fight,' but he had different ideas."

The local favourite is expected to fight in front of a sold-out crowd at the SunBet Arena at Time Square where he will face another dangerous threat in the form of Senegalese Abdoulaye Kane (5-1).
