Gift Walker eyes Title Shot after EFC 132 victory

Former EFC champion Gift Walker has set his sights on the Bantamweight title after defeating Eduardo Barros at EFC 132 with a seamless rear naked choke.

Walker secured a pivotal victory in what was his first fight in the EFC since August last year, reminding the bantamweight division – and specifically Faeez Jacobs – that he may very well be next in line to challenge for the belt.

After another textbook performance, "The Day Walker" laid out his ambitions in his typical humble and gracious demeanour.

“I said to Barros that I love him man, I’m the third member of my team that he’s fought and regardless of that he is such an awesome dude," said Walker.

“In that first round I was trying to find my timing with the striking, but he is so good man he gave me such a tough fight."

Current EFC Bantamweight champion Faeez Jacobs was cage side to see the fight unfold after he recently defeated Australian Trent Girdham in an instant classic of a fight.

Without making any demands, Walker nonchalantly said he is the best placed contender to make another run for the title.

“Man I have no message, he is the champ and if he wants to fight I’ll fight him, if not I’ll work my way up.

“With that being said I’m 8-1 in this organisation, with seven finishes – there is nobody with that record right now as a contender. I’m a former champion, I shouldn’t need to do anything more.

“I also hear there’s an Aussie [Girdham] that’s been talking because he got beat up, so if he wants some, I’ll gladly give it to him. If it’s him or anyone else, I don’t mind because I’m a workhorse – I’m here to work," he exclaimed.
