Jacobs and Yemba agree to meet in the middle for featherweight gold

EFC Bantamweight Champion, Faeez Jacobs agrees to meet Shadrack Yemba in the middle of the cage as he sets out to become a Two-Division Champion this Thursday night at EFC 137.

During the pre-fight press conference, Jacobs was asked if another belt around his waist will attract the attention of the UFC, this is what ‘The Troublemaker’ had to say…

"100 percent. I think that being able to do this, being able to challenge yourself on this level is something that an elite does and I am 100 percent elite. I have faced many challenges," said Jacobs

"In fact, I have put challenges in front of me. I've been able to do a lot more because I've been able to consume a lot more. I've been able to move a lot more. I've recovered twice as fast. So this has been a very interesting journey, but I must say I'm full of life and I'm loving every step of the way. I think bantamweights should be jealous of featherweight. I look great at this weight now."

During the heated exchange between Jacobs and Yemba at the pre-fight press conference, both contenders agreed to meet in the middle of the cage and the man who backs off first will lose the wager. Jacobs then also suggested they should put some money on the line and donate that to charity.

The current bantamweight champion from the mother city emphasised that this fight with Yemba will not enter the championship rounds.

As Jacobs sets out to achieve the double-champ status, he says he is not at all fazed by Yemba’s cutthroat trash talk, he instead believes the attitude of Yemba will just make him sharper for his date with destiny.

The main card of EFC 137 will begin at 19:00 Thursday evening, and MMA fans can stream the action LIVE on sabc-plus.com
