Galaxy cry foul over denied penalty

There were ugly scenes at the end of Royal AM and TS Galaxy’s Dstv Premiership game at the Chatsworth stadium last night.

Visiting Galaxy protested against the match official’s decision not to award a penalty towards the end of the match, which ended goalies.

A ball had hit the hand of a Royal defender and referee Tshidiso Maruping, who was not far from the action waved play-on. Rockets head coach Sead Ramovic says all they are asking for is fairness.

"They had a good opportunity with the penalty but they didn't score. In the end there was a clear penalty for us, if that was not a penalty then I don't know what a penalty is.

I said it many times that I want a fair game on both sides, so if the opponent gets a penalty because we played the ball with a hand, that should be a penalty. The same way if it's the other opponent," Ramovic said.

In contrast, Royal were awarded a penalty in the 76th minute, which they failed to convert. Ramovic is concerned these decisions are far too frequent.

"It's not the first time where we get a clear penalty but not rewarded one. This is why I would like the media to ask the referee why he didn't give the penalty. Everybody saw it was a clear hand and this is why I got so angry  because the fantastic work from my players didn't get us the results that we should have gotten.

We should have gotten a penalty, maybe we could have missed also but we deserved that penalty. It's just a fair game," he concluded.
