Dillan Solomons says competition for places is a positive at Kaizer Chiefs

Dillan Solomons says continued competition for places at Kaizer Chiefs will "bring out the best" in him.

The 26-year-old wide player made the move to Amakhosi from Swallows this season after consistently impressive displays.

He signed a four-year deal from Swallows and was a regular starter in the first half of the current campaign.

After spending some time as a substitute, Solomons dislocated his shoulder in January and has missed the club's last three games.

Chiefs next face Golden Arrows on Sunday and ahead of the tie, Solomons, who has been deployed largely in defence, told FARPost that he is struggling maintain his form.

He said: "A bit inconsistent, I am not going to lie. But it's about competition, and that's what I want. I wanted to have competition, and hopefully, it will bring out the best in me.

"[Siyabonga] Ngezana has been playing right back for a few years. So I don't think he is new to the position, so he knows what to do. Sometimes you do help him, but for me, it's not giving too much information because he knows what he needs to do, and he obviously gets information from the coach.

"For me, my injury is coming along well. It's not as bad as expected, so hopefully, I will be back soon."

Solomons added: "The team has been doing well, so I am very happy for them. They are using that momentum of winning the Nedbank Cup against Maritzburg United to take it to the league, which is good for us, and hopefully, this weekend, we can get another three points."
