Will Jacks hails Harry Brook's England captaincy after T20 WC win over New Zealand

England made it three wins from three with a four-wicket victory over New Zealand in Colombo on Friday, though the contest was far from straightforward.

Jacks admitted he felt nervous during the closing stages of the chase, particularly after watching New Zealand's spinners dismantle Sri Lanka on the same surface while defending a similar total earlier in the tournament.

New Zealand posted 159/7 after batting first, with Jacks playing a key role with the ball, returning figures of 2/23. England's reply appeared steady before late pressure left them requiring 43 runs from the final three overs.

Jacks, batting alongside Rehan Ahmed at the time, helped steer the side home to maintain their unbeaten run in the Super Eights.

Despite regularly finding themselves under pressure throughout the competition, England have consistently found solutions. Jacks insisted the squad are enjoying themselves and embracing the responsibility that comes with knockout cricket under Brook's leadership.

England will now face either India or West Indies in the semi-finals, with those two sides set to meet on Sunday to determine who progresses to the last four clash.

"I think this group is in the era of Harry Brook. He is our white-ball captain," Jacks told reporters in Colombo.

"And I think that is something that we've been really focusing on. He has got us to play a certain way, and I think the environment around the group led by him is absolutely brilliant.

"Hopefully, everyone can see that we're having fun and we're approaching the game in the right way. And I think that's why we've had some success."
