Virat Kohli went 'out of his comfort zone' to hit over 300 sixes in IPL

Virat Kohli became only the third player in IPL history to surpass 300 sixes, reaching the milestone during a match-winning performance for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Gujarat Titans on Friday.

Kohli struck four maximums on his way to an impressive 81, guiding RCB to a crucial victory while continuing to redefine his reputation as a power hitter.

The landmark places him alongside Chris Gayle and Rohit Sharma as the only players to breach the 300-sixes mark in the competition. Notably, Kohli is now just seven sixes behind Sharma, having played five fewer innings.

Former India batter Mohammad Kaif praised Kohli's evolution in the format, emphasising how he has adapted his game to the modern demands of T20 cricket.

Kaif pointed out that Kohli was never considered a "natural six-hitter", but has developed that aspect significantly over time.

"Virat Kohli taking his IPL 6s tally to 303 is an incredible achievement," said Kaif via X.

"Imagine Gayle has 360 and Rohit 310. Kohli isn't a natural six-hitter but he worked on his game to meet the demands of the modern game. His greatness is his adaptability and showing courage to come out of his comfort zone."

According to Kaif, Kohli's ability to adjust has brought him close to the level of recognised power hitters such as Gayle and Sharma.
