Terblanche urges Proteas Women to control the controllables

Proteas Women assistant coach Claire Terblanche says they’ll go into their T20 World Cup game against Bangladesh tomorrow doing all they can to qualify for the semi-finals.

South Africa’s fate at the tournament is not in their own hands, and they must win their match and hope Australia thrash India in the later game for them to make the last four.

Terblanche says the players are aware of the situation and know that they need to do their part in the final Group A clash.

"I think all the girls in the set up are professional and they know what they have to do. Yes we have to beat Bangladesh and then after the game it's out of our hands, but as long as we focus on what we have to do the result will take care of itself."

While the former skipper praised opening batter Tazmin Brits for her historic 114 not out against the Netherlands, she says different players have contributed to the team when called upon.

The match against Bangladesh will be played at the iconic Lord’s cricket ground in London, and she described the excitement among the ladies.

"The first thing the ladies did was whip out their phones to take a few photos and videos, but they are very excited to play at Lord's."
