The two teams will square up in the 50-over format in three matches starting this Sunday in Christchurch, with the other two slated for Wellington next week.
With South Africa currently in third position on the Championship standings, Terblanche stressed the importance of securing the points and qualifying for the 2029 World Cup before experimenting too much with their squad.
"Yeah, I think we would be trying to play our strongest side, set the platform so we can later on, as the World Cup approaches, try out combinations because then we'd kind of be safe on the points table for that 2029 World Cup," said Terblanche.
"I think walking away, ticking the boxes with regards to our KPIs, things that we've set out for the players, and the players really just showing that bounce back ability and character within the team, especially after the T20 series, it's to move on now to the ODIs on a clean slate."
The Proteas Women took a massive 4-1 beating from the White Ferns in the T20 series, but Terblanche believes they will take some lessons from that into the ODIs.
"Yeah, again, just to take the learnings out of the T20 games, we're playing at Christchurch again for the first ODI, and then bearing in mind that it is a build up to that World Cup that we obviously do want to qualify for," she added.
"So, yes, points are important but how we string those points together with performances, I feel, will help us gain momentum moving forward."
