Proteas home T20I series against West Indies trimmed from five to three matches

The Proteas will only play a three-match T20I series at home against West Indies in January 2026, instead of the original five, due to a clash with the T20 World Cup.

The series was due to start on 27 January until 6 February but will now have to end on 31 January to allow teams to travel to India and Sri Lanka, who will co-host the T20 World Cup.

As a result, two fixtures have been cut with matches at Newlands in Cape Town and Buffalo Park in East London no longer hosting games.

The series will start at Boland Park in Paarl on 27 January with the remaining fixtures in Centurion and the Wanderers on 29 and 31 January, respectively.

The final game of the series at the Wanderers will be the traditional Pink Day contest, traditionally an ODI, which the Proteas men's team wears pink to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer treatment.

The three T20I fixtures against West Indies is the only international games in South Africa's home summer for the men's team.

The Proteas start an all-format tour to Pakistan next month before traveling to India to play Test matches, ODIs and T20Is.

The home season will be headlined by the SA20 that starts on Boxing Day this year with the final scheduled for 25 January 2026.
