South Africa were not very convincing at times in the group stage of the competition, and they even had to wait for Australia to beat India to find out if they’ll be in the semi-finals.
Kapp says they’ve only played at 60% of their potential, and urged her teammates to bring their A-game against hosts England in the last four on Thursday.
"Look, everyone has been putting in the hard work. I've always believed that everything happens for a reason, and up until now we've only performed at 60% to be honest, but that excites me because it tells me that a lot of players are still due to make an impact."
She believes it’s important not to peak too early at international tournaments, and knows exactly when to take it up a notch. While they beat both the Netherlands and Bangladesh in their final two group matches, they were given a run for their money and at times made it a bit more difficult for themselves than it should have been.
Kapp admitted the fact that being in the last two finals of the tournament plus having beaten England in semi-finals does give them a slight advantage, but cautioned that it’s what happens on the day that will determine the result.
"It comes down to whomever rocks up on the day and plays the best cricket. We are experienced and we're at a better place as a whole having reached the finals at the last couple of World Cups, but at the end of the day - Thursday is a clean slate."
