Lhuan-dre Pretorius unfazed about missed century in Proteas win

Pretorius was dismissed with one over to go for 94, just one boundary away from the milestone at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek.

He says his only concern was getting the team as close to 200 runs as possible to be able to win the game.

"T20 hundreds are rare and international T20 hundreds are even more rare. I'm not too fussed about missing out, I believe that milestones will come and go. It is a team sport so if I am too focused on my milestones I should go play tennis or golf instead. My goal was to get the team as close to 200 runs as possible."

Pretorius was the only batter to go past 50 in the match, with Dewald Brevis posting 41 on the day. His opening partner Jordan Hermann contributed 28, while the rest could not get into double figures. He says that’s how the game works and he wasn’t really disappointed with the scores from his teammates.

The 20-year-old says there wasn’t any specific plan going into the game, but did admit to knowing some members of the Chevrons team quite well.

"I know a couple of people in the Zimbabwe team including the coaching staff that is from South Africa. It's good to play against them, and it's an honour to put on the Proteas jersey every time - no matter who you play against."

The win took South Africa a step closer to the final of the tri-series, and they will play one more round robin match on Friday against hosts Namibia. Pretorius says they need to put all their focus on that first.
