Lesego Senokwane hails teamwork in One Day Cup win

Titans opening batter Lesego Senokwane has credited teamwork for their victorious end to the season, after clinching the CSA One Day Cup.

The Pretoria franchise had not had the best of seasons domestically until then, having been poor in both the T20 Challenge and the 4-Day Series.

Having made the play-offs in the 50-overs, they eventually went on to beat rivals the Lions by 3 wickets in the final and Senokwane says they stuck together and pulled in one direction to make sure they put some respectability to their season.

"Yeah I don't think it's a secret that we didn't start off great but I think team work helped us over the line at the backend. It was just a whole team effort and just guys understanding where they are, what they need to do and how we can pull together towards victory, which we did," Senokwane said.

While it was a happy ending for Senokwane and his teammates, it wasn’t always comfortable as both he and opening partner Rivaldo Moonsamy were dismissed without scoring.

In came Keegan Petersen to the rescue with match-winning 90 runs, and he says sometimes all you need is one in-form batter to save the team in a desperate situation.

"Yeah, I mean if you are in a team environment there's 11 players so you back each other. If it's someone's day to pull the team through especially if we are chasing such a reasonable total, you just need one batter that needs to bat through which KP did,” he added.

“There were some nervous moments in the match, there were ups and downs in the whole 50 overs that we played but like I said, team work helped us through that."
