Karabo Meso looks forward to testing her capacity in first ODI

Proteas Women Wicketkeeper-batter, Karabo Meso says she looks forward to testing herself against the best in 50-over cricket in the upcoming Tri-Series in Sri-Lanka.

Meso and fellow SA U19 star Seshnie Naidu are amongst the youngest players in the

Proteas set up to receive their maiden ODI call-ups.

Speaking to SABC Sport, Meso says she is proud to see how far she has come in professional cricket.

"I feel really proud of myself, compared to the previous years and upcoming cricket, I think it's a really big step for me to see where my 50-over game is at. Testing myself against the best teams is really amazing in my career, to see where I'm at with my 50-over mentality of cricket," explained Karabo.

Meso has enjoyed a successful season at school and club level, winning the SA20 Schools title with Steyn City and also helping the Lions ladies to a Pro50 Series Championship.

She shares the importance of building from this incredible momentum.
"Into the senior team, I think it's just a mindset thing. If I can do it at school and in domestic cricket why can't I do it for the senior Proteas team?"
She goes on to explain, "It's just about mindset and telling myself that I can do it, it's just playing the game that I'm used to playing in domestic and school cricket."

Despite the 17-year-old’s busy schedule in professional cricket, she still has to find balance with her schoolwork as this is her matric year.

"Balancing school and cricket is going much better, the system has also helped me to juggle my schoolwork and my cricket," said the SA U/19 star.
Meso has also highlighted her personal goals ahead of the Tri-Series and her expectations for playing in different conditions.
"Playing fearlessly, enjoying every moment, and contributing to the team where I'm needed are my goals for this Tri-series.
She goes on to say, "It's a big thing playing in different conditions, but it's all about getting used to them like any other venue."
